Our Curator's Notes

The folowing painting is of a lake inland from Santa Barbara known as Lake Cuchama. On a trip up the California coast in 2022 Ovanes took an excursion inland to enjoy thepeace of lake Cuchama. THis is one of the only paintings he has ever done of this lake as he visited in the spring and painted his signature flowers in the foreground. The path leads the eye from the flowers to the trees on the edge of the hill that overlook the lake The blue of the sky is balanced by the blue lake as it creates a peaceful and harmonious scene.
